Professor Sara St. James returns as BME Alumni Seminar Speaker
The Biomedical Engineering Alumni Seminar Series continues Thursday, February 5th, with a talk given by Dr. Sara St. James, Assistant Professor and Medical Physicist, Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Washington.
The title of this week’s talk will be:
Positrons, Protons… “positive” experiences in Medical Physics
The pathway from Biomedical Engineering to clinical Medical Physics is one that has changed drastically in the past few years. The career path to medical physics, the role of a medical physicist in radiation oncology and the many research opportunities that exist for biomedical engineers in medical physics will be discussed with an emphasis on proton therapy and neutron therapy (both of which are currently used at the University of Washington).
