Dr. Louie aims to enhance the diagnostic value and quality of noninvasive imaging through the use of advanced, targeted and activatable contrast agents. The Louie group focuses on the synthesis and development of small molecule, polymer and nanoparticulate agents for contrast-enhanced imaging in living systems. Current projects involve multimodal imaging of inflammation in atherosclerosis and the brain (MRI/PET), theranostic nanoparticles for atrial fibrillation, macrophage behavior in cancer progression and regression and small molecule sensors for MRI.
