Dr. Chen-Izu’s interdisciplinary team combines molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, biophysics and mathematical modelling to advance fundamental research into heart disease mechanisms. The group develops innovative technologies and uses state-of-the-art methods to investigate dynamic systems –bioelectrical, calcium signaling and biomechanical systems -- that control cardiac function. They aim to gain in-depth understanding of the molecular dynamics that lead to heart diseases and to develop new drug therapies to combat cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure.
Accepting students per funding availability.
